In amongst editing YT videos & blogging for my other pages, I felt I needed to share this amazing product with you. If you’re after a flawless finish that sets your makeup, then look no further!
NYX has a translucent powder called the HD Studio Finishing powder used once you’re all glammed up. It retails at just £8 and this genuinely transforms my look, I don’t feel complete without it. I’ve never known my makeup to stay so sturdy throughout the day and my concealer to have such little creases, I feel like I’ve been smoothed out with the FaceTune tool (all the selfie girls reading..u kno).
I really wanted to get my hands dirty with baking, and not in the cute making cupcakes sense. Baking is a MUA term for diminishing fine lines and leaving you wrinkle/crease free & flawless, why wouldn’t I want to give it a go right?! There’s more about baking here if you’re interested.
I was well aware that the most popular product out there for baking is the Laura Mercier Translucent powder that retailing at nearly £30. For me, that was too much to pay for something I’m yet to even try, so I opted for the trusty NYX stand in my local boots store. That’s a lie. I ordered it online but that sounds so much better than just pressing ‘Checkout’ lol.
How I Bake:
Once my concealer is set on top of my foundation, I grab my DRY beauty blender, which is not featured in my blog pics as it was disgustingly dirty and just not pretty to look at at all. The fine, loose powder is super soft, almost like dipping your hand in flour (anyone else love the feel of that? or is it just me?).
I dab my dry beauty blender into the powder and press/roll onto the areas that I want to remain extra flawless throughout the day. This is normally under my eyes, chin, forehead & sometimes underneath my contour if I’m wanting a sharper look.
You leave this to soak into your skin & makeup for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, I like to get started on other parts of my face like the beloved brows. I use ABH Dipbrow Pomade in chocolate – BFF.
Once finished baking, I then grab a large powder brush, I use the Morphe M180 ^, and dust away any loose powder. Plus it feels really nice too. Soft brushes are the absolute BOMB on your face.
The Finished Look:
I promise, no smoothing/softening tools were used on my face in any of these pictures!! This is genuinely how it looked in real life and I recommend it to anyone, just give it a go. You don’t have to be a MUA (I’m deffo not).
As you can see, I did my contour pretty sharp but I kept it still quite bronzed as opposed to ashy. I did bake underneath my contour a little which really does make a difference, if you’ve done it before you’ll understand, if not, WHY NOT! It’s crazy to think a little pot of powder could do such wonders to your face.
This lasted ALL. DAY. And I had so many compliments on how good my skin looked! It actually feels pretty smooth once you’re wearing it too, and obviously thats just the powder sat ontop of your face but still, it’s nice to feel nice lol.
I feel like this is a really good doupe for the expensive Laura Mercier Powder but if you’re willing to pay for that product, you get what you pay for 100%, go for it! I’m so glad I plucked up the courage to give baking a go – now I can’t do my makeup without it!
